CASH given to councillors for their work will be voted on later this week - by councillors.
An independent body has recommended allowances for Colchester councillors remain the same and should only rise in line with inflation under the council’s existing policy.
The Independent Renumeration Panel has also recommended a special allowance paid to members of the licensing committee is halved.
If councillors accept the changes during a full council meeting on Thursday the authority would save £4,264 each year, with changes coming into force from January 1.
