Crunch U's meeting postponed as town hall packed out
6:52pm Thursday 29th November 2012 in News
A MEETING which was due to decide whether Colchester United could extend the hours it uses its training ground in Tiptree has been called off.
Theresa Higgins, chair of Colchester Council planning committee, adjourned the meeting because there were too many people in the old library, adjacent to the town hall, in Colchester High Street.
Fire regulations stipulate the hall can be full, with ten people standing, while a meeting takes place.
But after a 15 minute break, no agreement could be reached with opposing residents and U's supporters so Mrs Higgins postponed the meeting until January 3, in Colchester Moot Hall, which can hold up to 250 people.

Most who attend won't be affected by any changes one way or the other and they live nowhere near this training ground. So lets hope the planning committee are not swayed yet again by club supporters, as they were when the planning application for the new stadium was approved. In that application previous conditions were conveniently ignored.

Many who will go to the Moot Hall meeting, as was the case last Thursday, will be club supporters, in support of Robbie Cowling's attempt to rail-road the Planning Committee into changing conditions. Conditions which he had already agreed to in the first place!
