A homeowner whose Tudor property is in a rundown conservation area has defended the efforts his family have made to renovate their home.

Swan Street in Sible Hedingham has remained on this year’s Heritage at Risk Register after English Heritage, which publishes the list, said the area was in poor condition.

It has blamed poor woodwork and street clutter.

Chris Brookes lives next to The Swan pub and said while he agreed his property was “tired looking” it has been improved vastly over nearly 50 years.
