A POLICE hunt is still on for two men who robbed a security guard at a Dovercourt bank.

The men physically assaulted a security guard outside Barclays Bank on Kingsway at around midday today, November 27.

The 62-year-old man from the Ipswich area was punched in the face, before he had a cash box containing a five-figure sum of cash stolen from him.

The two men got into a nearby white Ford Focus and sped off. This car was later found by police, abandoned on Knights Close in Lawford.

A police spokesman said: "We know that the car was stolen during a burglary in Bramford on Tuesday, November 6.

"It has now been recovered and is undergoing a forensic examination.”

The two men ran off towards the railway line between Lawford and Cattawade in Suffolk. They are described as being in their late 20s or early 30s, of slim build and were wearing dark clothing.

The police helicopter was searching the area from the sky but has failed to find the missing men.

Anyone with information in connection with this robbery is urged to contact detectives at Clacton police station on 101.

Utterly disgusting crime and evidence policing of Harwich is shocking. Harwich only has a few roads in and out, yet a broad daylight robbery takes place using a stolen car. The criminals can drive all the way to Lawford, dump the car and no doubt change into another. It doesn't matter if you have helicopters, dogs, SAS ninjas, cops in the area is what's needed.

No police on the streets of Harwich makes it a criminals dream. Violent crime on the increase along with disorder and theft.

I hope the injured security guard makes a full recovery and the scum who did this theft their DNA in the stolen car.

New police commissioner, take note.
