A DRIVER was punched in the face in an apparent road rage incident in Colchester.
A man, 29, was assaulted in his blue Vauxhall Astra by another male driver at 3pm on Wednesday November 14 near the cemetery on Mersea Road.
As both cars neared the cemetery, the driver of a small blue car which had pulled out in front of the victim at St Botolph's Roundabout stopped, walked over to the Astra and opened the door before punching the male driver several times in the face.
He then slammed the door shut and kicked it twice before returning to his car and driving off at speed.
Investigating officer PC Roxanne Wicks said the motive was unclear at this stage.
The victim suffered cuts and bruises to the face but did not require any medical treatment.
