BIKERS have helped to raise £300 for a military charity during a town centre collection.
Volunteers who took part in the annual D-Day Memorial Ride, in June, took to Colchester town centre for its final fundraiser of the year.
A team of volunteers collected £300 from shoppers on Thursday, November 15.
Proceeds will go to the Army Benevolent Fund.
Terry Youngs, chairman of the organising committee, said: “We were really surprised with how much we took on the day.
“In was the middle of November but people were still really supportive.”
Next year’s ride, in which hundreds of bikers will travel from Merville Barracks to Rettendon to commemorate the Allied invasion in 1944, will take place on June 8.
