THIEVES stole thousands of pounds from a man in Colchester.

The man, who is in his 60s, was hassled by four people through the town centre after withdrawing the four-figure sum of money from a cashpoint.

It is thought the money was stolen when one of the group, a woman, barged into him.

He was followed by the group from Long Wyre Street, through Red Lion Walk and on to St Nicholas Street before they ran away.

The incident happened at around 3pm on Friday, November 2.

Police have released an efit of the woman.

The money may have been obtained by using a number of different bank cards.
Never wise to carry around a big sum of money if it can be helped.

Cash withdrawal sums are limited. If he was being hassled then why didn't he go into a shop and ask them to call the police?

Must have been taken out in multiple transactions (with different cards) so not exactly subtle. If you do need this much cash, withdraw at the counter and hide it before leaving the bank!
