In today's Gazette: A toddler was crushed to death when a chest of drawers fell on him.
Mason Tipping, who was aged 22 months, was in his bedroom in Hickory Avenue, Greenstead, Colchester, when the accident happened.
* Would-be pop star Greg West has spoken of his sadness at being voted out of the X Factor - but said he still plans to pursue a career in music with his group District 3.
Greg, whose family live in Clacton and who attended Manningtree High School, said the boy band planned to write music and look forward to the X Factor tour.
*Driver Nannette Stanbridge, who was hurt when her 4x4 was involved in a head on crash with a police car, has said the force's drivers need better training.
* A new director has been appointed at Colchester's Firstsite art gallery.
Matthew Rowe, the artistic director of the Towner art gallery in Eastbourne, has taken over following the resignation of Kath Wood earlier this year.
