POLICE are investigating two attempted thefts of ATMs last night.

The first happened in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham, at around 11.25pm.

Attempts were made to steal the ATM at the Total Service Station using a blue 4x4 vehicle to pull it from the wall.

The vehicle, which is believed to be stolen, and ATM remained at the scene.

Another vehicle - a red Subaru - is also believed to have been used.

A police spokesman said: "This vehicle was reported as being seen outside a Co-Op store in Havengore, Chelmsford, at around 12.30am this morning, where attempts were made to remove the ATM from the store by smashing a glass door panel.

"Nothing is believed to have been stolen from inside and the ATM was not removed."
