Braintree: Man trapped after crash

FIREFIGHTERS gave first aid to a man who was trapped because of his injuries following a one-car crash in London Road, at the junction of the A120.

Two crews from Braintree waited with the casaulty until paramedics arrived to treat him.

The incident happened at 7pm, and the man was freed by 8.20pm.

You’re at it again!

Just what is the picture of a Fire Engine in the middle of a field supposed to convey to the reader?

Don’t you have reporters who can visit the locations of breaking news stories and acquire exclusive and relevant photographs?

Grrrrr me too, it annoys me that they can't get a reporter to the scene and just show completely stupid and irrelevant pictures, like the police car, fire engine etc.

This is an on-going gripe rather than a desire to rubberneck an accident (I hope). I think the frustration is the way random photos are thrown in at the mere mention of the fire brigade or police being in attendance.

Yellow Peril has demonstrated a perfect understanding of the situation.

Nobody is seeking the publication of distressing and sensational pictures. They are available all over the internet at the press of a button in any case.

What’s required are factually correct images that help in setting the overall scene in a far more sensible and informative way than is currently being achieved. Surely this is not too much to expect in this day and age of sophisticated Information and Communication Technology?

This paper is run on a very tight budget with limited staff. It can't be expected to send reporters and photographers out to every accident to take photos, in the dark (note the time this accident took place).
I do agree that the photo of the fire engine in a field is irrelevant.

Are we really saying that a supposedly keen and thrusting local newspaper, with its ‘ear firmly to the ground’ apropos breaking news, didn’t have the ability to respond to an on-going incident barely a mile or so away from its High Street Office?

As for it being too dark for taking photographs, “come now Boris, where have you been the last 10 years”?

As a Braintree ‘Ex Pat’ taking a peek at the local newspaper I can’t help get the feeling that there are many townsfolk who have become so inured to continuously declining standards that not only do they now accept them without so much as a whimper - but there are some who even rise to defend them!

Common you lot, listen to likes of ‘Jaxinthebox’ and the ‘Yellow Peril’ and start demanding an improvement in the quality of your local newspaper.

With regard to the ‘Budget Factor’ - surely the very raison d'etre of such a newspaper requires the provision and management of a budget that facilitates such a fundamental service.

If a poor quality of end product really is traceable to budgetary limitations then perhaps it is for consideration that the budget has been poorly planned and implemented in the first place?

Exactly. Yendor you have taken this entirely out of context. In this day and age is it too much to expect a professional piece of reporting by the local newspaper? My point is that they have pictures that come out again and again for every time there is an incident or accident. Oh and I am not an idiot.!!
