Police have appealed for witnesses after a man aged 18 died after a crash in Bromley Road, Colchester.

Josh Irvine, 18, was a passenger in a black Citroen Saxo car that crashed with a Colchester Council road sweeper on Thursday at 1.35pm.

The driver, also aged 18 and from Colchester, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and passenger in the road sweeper lorry were uninjured.

Police want to hear from any witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw the car in the moments prior to the collision.

What a sad and tragic waste of a young man's life. Looking at the details it may come out that the car was speeding but whatever the reason I hope that other drivers, old and young, will take even more care on the roads especially at this time of year with the rain/leaves etc.
RIP and I hope the driver makes a full recovery.
