Four cars involved in A120 pile up
3:45pm Wednesday 31st October 2012 in News
FOUR cars were involved in a pile-up on the A120 after rubber-necking drivers slowed down to look at an accident on the opposite carriageway.
A car towing a caravan was involved in a minor shunt on the eastbound carriageway close to the A133 Frating junction at about 1.30pm.
But there was a four-car collision as drivers on the westbound carriageway slowed to watch what was happening on the Harwich-bound road.
A blue Citroën Xsara Picasso, a white Ford Transit, a silver Peugeot 207 and a silver Volvo V40 were involved in the pile-up.
A 23-year-old woman was treated at the scene by paramedics after suffering a minor neck injury.
A spokesman for Essex Police said said: “The collision happened when several vehicles struck each other on the southbound carriageway.
“It followed a shunt on the opposite carriageway a few minutes earlier."
Police were forced to close the road due to an oil spillage.
