Power cut leaves string of Colchester town centre firms in dark

A TOWN centre taxi firm boss says he has been left £2,000 out of pocket after being left without electricity for 36 hours.

Clive Woolgar, owner of Colchester taxi firm Five Sevens was forced to send his cabbies home after the power went out on part of Osborne Street on Sunday night at 8pm.

As well as cutting the power to his phoneline, the outage left Mr Woolgar unable to access his computer and find out who had pre-booked pick-ups.

However small your business you should have a disaster plan. A UPS would power your computer long enough to print off or down load essential data and a old style telephone that doesn't need power enables you to still take calls.
