Vicar wants community sign back
9:40am Tuesday 30th October 2012 in News
A VICAR is urging those who stole a sign paid for by the community to return it.
Father Richard Tillbrook, of St Barnabas Church in Abbot’s Road, helped organise signs at the approaches to Old Heath to help improve the community image.
Father Richard was also instrumental in getting the Harbour ward renamed Old Heath and takes great pride in the identity of the area.
But sometime between Friday, October 19, and Monday, October 22, the Haven Road sign was stolen in the latest metal theft.
Father Tillbrook said: “The ‘Welcome to Old Heath’ sign was erected at the end of Haven Road some years ago to help improve our community image and put us on the map.
“The sign was bought and paid for by the community and similar signs are erected at every approach to Old Heath.
“We would very much like it back and appeal to whoever removed it or whoever has since acquired it to return it so that I can have it put back where it belongs.”
Anyone who has spotted the sign can return it to St Barnabas Church.
