Officers try to prevent another burglary spike in Essex

EXTRA police patrols will be carried out in Essex to try and prevent another burglary spike.
 

The force reacted to the summer rise with a series of successful operations targeting known offenders called Operation Nemesis which helped catch a number of burglars.
 

Now officers want to help residents before they become victims and are also offering advice so they can help themselves.

Why bother catching them when all they can expect is a few weeks in a comfy cell with 3 meals a day ?
Until there is a punishment to fit the crime and a term in jail is uncomfortable enough to put these scum bags off doing the crime in the first place. I feel sorry for the police having to repeatedly catch the criminals only to see them again up to their old tricks.

How very true, Grabber. I feel for the coppers too, same old faces again and again, and I bet the crims don't even care when they are caught, if they even get prison, like you say, it doesnt faze them.
