In today's Gazette: A grieving mother has told how she tried to grab a policeman's taser gun and kill herself after being told her teenage son was dead.
Caroline Shearer says she cannot remember what life was like before her son Jay Whiston, 17, was stabbed in the road outside a Colchester house party.
* An elderly couple are appealing for help to find their jewellery stolen by a burglar while they were at home.
The couple were watching television in Irvine Road, Colchester, while the raider ransacked their bedroom and stole jewellery including eternity and engagement rings.
* Bond star Dame Judi Dench has contributed the foreward to a book commemorating Herbert Columbine, a soldier from Walton who died in the First World War.
