Games stars attend Royal reception at Buckingham Palace

NORTH Essex Olympic and Paralympic medallists celebrated their achievements at a Royal reception in Buckingham Palace.

Medal winners Saskia Clark, Natalie Jones, Chloe Rogers and Zoe Newson were among the stars to meet the Queen on Tuesday night. 

The ceremony was held because the Queen wanted to say a personal thank-you to Team GB’s Olympic and Paralympic successes of 2012.

For 20-year-old powerlifter Zoe Newson, who claimed bronze in the women’s 40kg event, it was her first time at the palace.

During the Paralympic Games, Zoe, of East Bergholt, equalled her own personal best of 88kg.

“It was a very enjoyable night,” she said.
