Concern over nuisance boy racers
4:10pm Tuesday 23rd October 2012 in News By Andrea Collitt
POLICE have threatened to seize cars belonging to nuisance boy racers gathering at a Colchester business park.
Residents have complained of vehicles gathering at the Cowdray Centre with loud music playing and engines revving late into the evening.
Officers from the Colchester Town Neighbourhood Policing Team have warned the trouble makers of a law that allows them to seize a motor vehicle causing alarm, distress or annoyance.
They have also had to step up late-night patrols.
Residents in Cowdray Avenue, which backs onto the site, said the problem has keeping them awake at night.

However, if we were amongst those who were considered to be causing problems for neighbours, then the police who attended knew our names, parents, and where we lived. Our respect of the police would actually mean we disappeared to another area for a while, and if they were called upon a second time for a similar problem, that was the end of the nuisance problem until the next generation. It was a time when parents also believed controlling their off springs by discipline, and we respected our parents.
I do not agree with anyone being a nuisance and causing upset to his or her elders, however, we must remember in our day employment was plentiful,
In addition, most people went to work. Therefore, today’s youngsters need something to occupy their minds and use up their energy.

Whoever wins this particular post?
Will just be another cog in a great big financial salary circle.
What can a new Besom do only accept the financial position that our police find themselves?

I find it strange that the current narrative is so anti-youth, it appears to have some among the older generation scared of young people. Their mere presence as a group of friends now necessitates ringing the police and causing endless trouble and mis-trust. People younger than 18 cannot go to bars and pubs naturally their left to wonder around, this doesn't mean they all have knives and guns, ready to viciously assault the nearest person. People need to get a grip, provide some sort of alternative for young people or accept they are going to hang about with their friends on the street and stop fearing them, they cause no harm and are not a gang as the Daily Fail would have you think.
We could do with a late opening cafe in Clacton
