OUTLINE plans have been submitted for 18 new homes on farmland in Elmstead Market.

Hills Residential Construction wants to build the homes, along with open space, car parking and infrastructure, on agricultural land east of Tye Road.

The land is next to a site that already has approval for 32 new homes after an appeal.

The developer said the plans include start and affordable family homes and is of high-quality design.

A covenant placed on the homes would also ensure they cannot be extended so they remain small family homes in perpetuity.

New open space areas would also be created as part of the proposal.

A decision on the application is expected to be made by Tendring Council by July 4.
