SOME people seem to find it impossible to allow others to enjoy things, no matter how harmless it is.

The Beat the Street project is a fantastic idea.

As part of the innovative scheme, beat boxes have been dotted around Colchester to allow people, especially youngsters, to get active and explore the place they live.

Sadly within hours of the game launching, some have been damaged by people burning cigarette ends onto the boxes.

Why on earth would any body do something so pointless?

What sort of pleasure could it possible give them to cause damage to something which, if they do want to get involved could just be ignored?

It is totally and utterly mindless.

Another act of mindless stupidity is flytipping.

Especially when the bags you are dumping contain drugs equipment.

Those items are potentially dangerous and could cause unthinkable harm to someone who stumbles upon them accidentally.

Hopefully, Colchester Council handing out fixed penalty notices to the perpetrators will make them think twice before they dump their waste in public or pay someone unscrupulous to do it for them.

The council has to get tough on these people to show them they cannot get away with blighting our precious landscape and putting people at the risk of harm.

Flytipping is the height of laziness and totally unacceptable.

We should not pay to clear up after them
