PUPILS braved awful conditions to take part in a special Race for Life event.
Youngsters at Willow Brook Primary School were joined by staff for the event to raise cash for Cancer Research and carried on running despite a huge downpour meaning participants were soaked to the bone.
The school had postponed the event twice before but were unfortunate to pick a day when the heavens opened.
Organisers believe they are one of the first primary schools in the area to host a Race for Life and Headteacher Joanna Newitt said she was delighted with how the children got stuck into the event despite the weather making things much more difficult.
She said: "On Monday, staff, pupils and parents took part in Willow Brook's own Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research.
"Despite the very heavy rain, everyone had a good time and we raised lots of money."
