ONE of Colchester’s McDonald’s restaurants is to close for a complete refurbishment, but Big Mac fans will be lovin’ its new look.
The High Street restaurant closes today for a three-week revamp before reopening on July 21.
Under the refurbishment, the restaurant will get a full makeover, including the McDonald’s signature style with a bright, modern interior and exterior design, comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi.
Craig Newnes, the franchisee who owns the High Street McDonald’s restaurant, said: “The restaurant is being given a significant investment boost with a bold transformation, including a hi-tech makeover.”
The three other McDonald’s restaurants in Colchester – in Cowdray Avenue, at Tollgate and on the A12 opposite Colchester United’s stadium – will be open as usual during the High Street refurbishment.
McDonald’s opened the restaurant in Colchester High Street in June 1984, while the burger chain opened its fourth diner in the town, at Cuckoo Farm, off the A12, in September last year, creating more than 100 jobs.
