DIPLOMATIC delegation of Saudi Arabian officials arrived in Colchester today to get an update on the police investigation into the murder of Nahid Al-Manea.

Representatives from the Kingdom were met by Essex Police bosses at the Salary Brook Trail and were given an update on the investigation into the 31-year-old Saudi student’s death.

Nahid was stabbed 16 times and killed as she walked along the Salary Brook Trail, in Greenstead, shortly after 10.30am on June 17.

The delegation included officials from Ministry of Interior and Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecutions.

Meetings between the delegation and Det Ch Inspector Mark Hall - who is in charge of the investigation - took place near to where Nahid’s body was found.

The four-man group flew in this morning especially for the meeting and are expected to return home late tonight.

Mr Hall said the meeting was held to make sure the Saudi Government and Nahid’s family are “fully aware” of how the investigation is progressing.

He added: "We continue to liaise closely with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Embassy and remain committed to obtaining justice for Nahid.

"We are looking at a number of lines of enquiry.

"This is a complex and large scale investigation but we remain focussed on pursuing each piece of information in order to identify the person or persons responsible for Nahid's murder."
