BORING school uniform checks have been given a complete overhaul with pupils strutting their stuff on the catwalk to pop music.

Smart youngsters at Clacton Coastal Academy are thrilled with the fun new check-ups on what they are wearing.

Headteacher Tracey Hemming even tweeted a video of year seven students taking part in the catwalk-style show performing to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ smash hit Uptown Funk.

The children can be seen marching up to teacher Stewart Haines, striking a pose and then strutting off again.

The academy introduced smart new uniforms with blazers - and daily uniform checks - after it was formed by the merger of Colbayns High School and Bishops Park College.

“We make sure that students enjoy all aspects of school life, including what could be quite mundane," she said.

“The uniform check has evolved in some classes to a very creative and fun experience, as seen in the year seven video.

“Their teacher Stewart Haines responded to the students' request for some modern music and you can see how much they enjoy themselves in the video."
