A GROUP of aspiring footballers have become the latest volunteers to take on the new internet challenge, Pie Face.

Bailey Seekings, nine, who goes to Myland Primary School, Colchester, challenged people to have a pie thrown in their face to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of his dad, Stuart.

Stuart died last December, aged 30, four years after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The fundraiser works by encouraging participants to join and then they can nominate other people to do the same and donate £5 to the charity.

Bailey got his football team, Stanway Rovers under-10s, to take part.

After their training session, 17 of his team-mates pied each other before turning on their coaches Lee Patrick, Kris Lee, Simon Sullivan and Gary Wood.

Bailey, who lives in Kirk Way, Colchester, said: “They all thought it was really good fun. Everyone was laughing.

“It felt really good for me that my friends were doing it for me.”

Kieran Sharma, Bailey’s stepdad, added: “It was really funny. All the boys wanted to take part. They all enjoyed it.”

To join the challenge post a video on social media using the hash tag #pieface and #baileyschallenge and donate by texting PIED54 and the amount you wish to give to 70070.
