A WOMAN who ordered her £700 dream fridge is locked in an argument with a retail company after it delivered the wrong model to her home.

Barbara Butler, 68, of Gilford Road, Colchester, unwrapped the fridge after it was delivered by Argos more than a week ago, only to find it was the wrong one.

It was also £200 cheaper than the one she had paid for.

She immediately rang Argos to find out what had happened, but was told the problem was down to Samsung, which makes both models, and it would have to be sorted out by them.

Mrs Butler said: “I have been on the phone to 11 different people on different days to try and sort this out.

“They keep saying they will come back to me in 48 hours, but then I hear nothing. One of them even laughed at me.

“It’s a total nightmare. I don’t understand why Argos can’t sort it out. They have my money, I have paid them, not Samsung, so they should rectify it.”

The unwanted fridge is now taking up space in Mrs Butler’s house.

She said: “I have been trying to sort this out now for more thanaweek. I can’t even use the fridge because it isn’t mine. I almost think they want me to use it so they don’t have to take it back.

“It is totally unacceptable that I have had to chase this and have nothing to show for it.”

An Argos spokesperson has since said: "We have spoken to Mrs Butler to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and have arranged to collect the fridge and offered a full refund and also a gesture of good will, all of which the customer has accepted."
