Colchester: signs will put tourism on track
 |
| The sign unveiled! |
A RAILWAY station has a new look to encourage visitors to come to Colchester.
New signs for Colchester Town station have been unveiled, showing the town's old and new faces with depictions of St Botolph's Priory and the new Firstsite Newsite art gallery.
The signs are sponsored by Colchester Council and were produced with train operator National Express East Anglia and East of England Tourism.
Claire Taylor, of Colchester Council, said: "Our vision is for Colchester to develop as a prestigious regional centre and a significant national visitor destination.
"Key to that is encouraging visitors to come to Colchester by train.
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with National Express to extend a warm welcome to our visitors from the moment they step on to the platform at the Town Station and into the heart of Colchester."
Signs at Colchester North station are sponsored by Colchester Zoo.

Tourists come by train? Don't forget they will have to take a bus from L Street to Shenfield, stand from Shenfield to Witham, then another bus from there to Colchester Town. At that point a drunken chav will threaten them and throw up on their shoes! Welcome to Colchester!

Most people that will see those signs will be getting off at Colchester Town anyway and will be well aware of what Colchester has to offer.
