Clacton: ‘I didn’t think I’d be over the limit’

A motorist who drove after drinking two bottles of beer did not think he would be over the limit.

When he was stopped for driving suspiciously on the way to his Chantry Close home in Clacton from a nearby holiday park, Brian Moules was breath tested. The test showed 62mcg of alcohol; the legal limit is 35.

Moules, 51, told Deputy District Judge Bal Dhaliwal at Colchester Magistrates Court yesterday: "I had only had a couple of Budweisers an hour and a half before that. I did not think I would be over the limit or I would never have driven."

He admitted a charge of drinking with excess alcohol and expressed an interest in attending a drink driving course after the judge banned him for 16 months.
