COLCHESTER History Channel has given viewers a whistle stop tour of the town’s carnival.
The 20-minute film features past footage of the iconic Colchester Carnival with black and white footage dating back to Twenties from the East Anglian Film Archive.
It is fronted by former Mr Carnival Ian McMeekan, who had helped run the carnival for many years. To date, the video has had some 17,000 views.
Paul Diggens, of CHC, said the programme will revive many memories for residents of Colchester.
He said: "We’re so pleased. People have said how fabulous the footage is and commented on the how the same lorries were used then and now for the parade, and also the massed bands. The reaction has been really positive."
Colchester History Channel is now busy with requests for footage.
He added: "Williams & Griffin has asked for stills from our Jacklins’ film as they now own that store area and wanted to use stills for their marketing."
