TICKETS are on sale to see a group of "amateurs" tread the boards in a superlative comedy production.

The Manifest Theatre, in Manningtree, is bringing Ian Hislop and Nick Newman's comedy A Bunch of Amateurs to the stage.

The production, directed by Nigel Rowe tells the tale of fading Hollywood action hero Jefferson Steele who is set on boosting his flagging career.

Steele arrives in England to play Kind Lear in Stratford upon Avon but finds himself in sleepy Suffolk with a bunch of amateurs.

The story sees the unravelling of his reputation leading to a reconciliation with his neglected daughter and a growing admiration for the professionalism of this happy band of amateurs.

A Manifest Theatre spokesman said: "This terrific comedy packed with killer comic dialogue has a great story, with plenty of twists and turns.

"We all look forward to welcoming you to the theatre for a night of entertainment and laughs."

The production is being staged from Tuesday, February 2, until Saturday, February 24.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £7 for members an £9 for non-members.

The bar will be serving refreshments from 7.00pm and during any interval.
