COMEDIAN Richard Digance has booked a date in his diary to perform in Harwich next year.

The BAFTA nominated TV entertainer will be brining his national ‘Not Too Bad for his Age Tour’ to the historic Electric Palace cinema on Thursday, February 8 at 7.30pm as part of Harwich Festival’s year round programme.

The well respected stand-up comic, folk singer and entertainer has an impressive 4,000 live shows, 62 British tours, 14 books, 3 stage plays, and 32 albums under his belt.

The star has also supported Robin Williams at The London Palladium, and supported Steve Martin in The USA, as well as playing guitar with Queen’s Brian May, Status Quo and The Moody Blues in his eclectic career.

His latest tour ‘Not Too Bad for his Age’ will see him doing what he loves best - telling stories, playing the guitar, and singing folk songs.

This year there’s a whole new show having shaken off the nostalgic trip of 50 years last year.

Michael Offord, Harwich Festival general manager, says: “We are delighted that Richard Digance will be performing live here in Harwich, he is considered by many to be something of a national treasure and his live shows are always great fun.

“There is already a lot of interest and so I would advise people to get their tickets early.”

Tickets are £12.50 in advance and £15 on the door, and are available on www.harwichfestival.co.uk or from the Harwich box office at Harwich Library. All profits raised from this event will go towards the Harwich Festival.

This year’s Harwich Festival consisted of more than 40 events in about 20 different venues made-up of an Open Exhibition which attracted 520 submissions from the local community; three public art projects, including the Willow Whale, which featured on ITV News, and the the Harwich Shorts Film Festival, which ran at the Electric Palace.

This year’s festival runs in the town from June 21 to July 1.
