Zombies rose from the grave and turned Southend into the land of the undead during the annual Zombie Walk and Ghost Train.

Ghoulish guests invited to arrive in style at the Pier Pavilion from 1pm to begin the walk at 3pm yesterday.

Guests were asked to “Zombify” themselves to take part in the thriller of an event.

Echo:

All zombies were given free train ride to the end of the pier, where they had the chance to “ghoul up” and have a few drinks in the Royal Pavilion Zombie Bar, and dance along to some Halloween music.

The Pier train was also taken over by ghostly apparitions and guests were invited to take a ride and enjoy scary stories, fireworks and face painting.

There were competitions to find the best dressed zombie by Silent Studios.

The walk ended at the Park Inn Palace Hotel where the event continued with a horror themed hot and cold buffet, horror themed cocktails and mocktails.

Echo:

A spokesman for the event said:”It has been incredible, everyone made such an effort and the props are fantastic.

“The train ride was brilliant.

“The whole thing definitely fulfilled its potential.”

Entry was free and all zombies also received free entry to the pier.
