Southend's first-ever Yoga and Vegan Festival to be held this month
The town, home to many yoga studios and healthy vegan cafes, will host the festival on October 29 at Southend Civic Centre in Victoria Avenue.
The event will consist of all-day-long yoga classes, meditation sessions, talks, workshops and more than 50 stalls selling vegan food, skincare, accessories, yoga mats and other products. More than 2,000 people are said to be planning to attend the festival.
A spokesman from Yogific, which is organising the event, said: “We are on a mission to create a tribe of vegan yogis because veganism and yoga are two ideas that are changing this world for better. We organize yoga and vegan festivals at various venues across the world to bring the two communities together.
Happy faces at our #Yoga and #Vegan Festival in #Nijmegen. Can't wait to go back and organize a bigger festival in Holland. pic.twitter.com/lKSQZJxWZa

“Southend seemed like the perfect venue for us because it has very active yoga, vegan and sustainable living groups. Many local yoga teachers, studios and vegan cafes are participating in the festival. The deputy mayor of Southend is also coming to support us. We intend to donate a part of proceeds to the Southend Mayor ‘s charity and rest to another charity in India that works for underprivileged blind girls.”
