COLCHESTER'S Chameleon's Web Theatre Company are revisiting an old favourite for their latest summer touring show.

The popular troupe toured Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters four years ago and they're back with another of the fantasy author's tall tales, Carpe Jugulum.

It follows the escapes of Mightily Oats who travels to the mountain kingdom of Lancre for a simple little religious ceremony but gets caught up in a war between vampires and witches.

Lancre’s newest residents are a thoroughly modern, sophisticated vampire family. They've got style and fancy waistcoats but they haven’t met the neighbours yet because between them and Lancre stand the witches. There's young Agnes, who is really in two minds about everything, Magrat, who is trying to combine witchcraft and nappies, Nanny Ogg, who is far too knowing, and Granny Weatherwax, who is big trouble.

Actor and director Suzanne Bailey set up Chameleon's Web back in 2007 after working with open-air touring company, Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

Starting off with stage productions at the Headgate Theatre in Colchester, the group moved outdoors for their first open-air production in 2010, which was Wind in the Willows.

Performed at various venues in and around Colchester, since then Chameleon's Web has put on productions of the Three Musketeers, Wyrd Sisters and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

The group begins with a packed weekend at the Ampitheatre at the Promenade Park in Maldon tonight from 6pm, then the Tollesbury Community Centre tomorrow from 7pm before rounding a very busy three days with a performance at Beth Chatto Gardens in Elmstead Market on Sunday at 6pm.

Don’t worry if you miss those because the show will be back the following weekend at the Whalebone pub in Fingringhoe on August 13 at 5pm and then finally the Dedham Vale Vineyard on August 14 at 6pm. For tickets, priced £11 for adults, £9 for concessions and £34 for a family ticket go on-line at www.ticketsource.co.uk/chameleonsweb or call 0333 666 3366.
