THE Lakeside Theatre’s winter season may be drawing to a close but there’s still plenty of theatrical fun to be had this week.

Located on Square 5 at Essex University, this week will see London Contemporary Theatre’s unique version of George Bernard Shaw’s classic play about class, Pygmalion.

It’s a satirical comedy about Henry Higgins, a phonetics expert who, as a kind of social experiment, attempts to make a lady out of uneducated flower girl, Eliza Doolittle.

Probing important questions about social class, human behaviour, and the relations between the sexes that are relevant to modern day society it was perhaps most famously adapted into the classic Sixties musical movie My Fair Lady starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.

Established in 2012, the London Contemporary Theatre is committed to creating exciting, fast-paced theatre and radio theatre, using live original music as well as cutting edge, modern-day techniques to engage with their audience.

It takes to the Lakeside stage tomorrow, November 19, from 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £12, £8 for concessions, and £5 for students, available on-line at www.lakesidetheatre.org.uk or by calling the box office on 01206 873261.
