Cameron Diaz has cut short an interview after the host made a quip about her best friend Drew Barrymore.

The Sex Tape actress was promoting her new movie with co-star Jason Segel in Australia when the interview took a turn for the worse, Us Weekly reported.

When one of the hosts of KIIS 106.5's Kyle and Jackie O show mentioned that their daughter in the movie reminded her of Drew's ET character, Cameron was happy to go with the flow.

"Aw, yeah!" she said of her Charlie's Angel co-star. "She does, now that you mention it."

But Cameron was not so happy when Kyle Sandilands brought up Drew's struggle with substances - she was in rehab when she was 14 - when she was very young.

"Let's hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I'd imagine," he said.

The website reported that Cameron replied: "I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean... always did it right? Congratulations."

The radio host replied: "Hang on a second, but I'm friends with Benji (Madden, Cameron's boyfriend)," but Cameron stayed silent before saying: "We have to go now... sorry, they're wrapping us up."

Jackie O later told her co-host: "Good one, Kyle. You ruined that interview... you brought up Drew Barrymore, her best friend's drug addiction in the past. She's her best friend! And then you brought up Benji. We all know how protective Cameron is about her private life."

But Kyle replied: "Maybe, they should've just bought ads if they wanted to sell the movie."
