The Committed
We are an authentic ten-piece tribute band to The Commitments and have some of the finest musicians from Colchester and beyond, making up our line-up with age ranges from 17 to 50 something!
The line-up was formed (after much searching) back in June 2007 and rehearsals started immediately using our home venue of The Twist as rehearsal space. (It helps that lead singer owns it, really).
We have performed at The Twist twice and performed at weddings and a private party for a 50th birthday.
We are also playing at The Kelvedon Free Music Festival on July 12 and were invited to play by the organisers some time ago, after they heard about us and checked out our website and myspace.
I (Neal Hargreaves) was also spotted by another Midlands-based Commitments tribute band, and act as deputy vocalist when theirs cannot make a gig (or 3!).
I am told that I not only look like Andrew Strong from The Commitments, but that more importantly, I sound remarkably like him too. This is always nice to hear, although I don't feel too flattered!
Our line-up is as follows:
Neal Hargreaves (Lead Vox) - The Twist owner and promoter for four years - Sudbury Quay Theatre lead roles, Edinburgh Festival 2001 - New Route Theatre Company, Balloons R Us, Minstrels Cafe Bar (opening soon)
James Sears (drummer), is an accomplished session drummer and is also going to Glastonbury this year with the marching band he is in
Carl Seager (Seags) is an accomplished guitarist and musician and works as a local guitar teacher. Carl has been in many bands over the years including "The Flying Heroes"
Richard Langstone (Keys) is also in high demand and plays in numerous soul and party bands
Adam Newland (Bass - x Cousin Joey)
Caroline Humphreys (Sax)
Tom Walsh (Trumpet) 17-year-old "wonder boy" being highly acclaimed for his jazz talents by no other than Alan Crumpton (Grapevine)
Laura Jepp (female vox) (Music Degree - Brighton uni)
Hazel O'Mahoney (female vox) (Cambridge Uni)
Robyn Jepp (female vox) (17 - following in sister's footsteps - a great talent)3:15pm Wednesday 7th May 2008
