If it's Good Enough for Cleopatra...

Egypt holidays are a relatively new concept in the world of foreign holidays. In 1978, President of Egypt, Anwar Sadat and the Prime Minister of Israel, Menachim Begin, signed a Peace Treaty and the Israeli army withdrew from the Sinai Peninsular.

Egypt holidays have more than most to offer with stunning beauty, modern resorts and a fascinating history that dates back over 4000 years. Temperatures often hit 35° here and with flight times from the UK of around 5 hours, Egypt holidays are a very exciting year round proposition.

Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north and Red Sea to the east, Egypt also benefits from having the longest river in the world flowing through it, this means there has to be an Egypt holiday to suit everyone.

For the ideal way to see many of the worlds most historic sites then a Nile Cruise would be the perfect choice for your Egypt holidays.

On the Mediterranean Coast is the thriving Marsa Mutrah resort where holidays revolve around the beaches. Legend has it that Cleopatra bathed in the waters near here and after all, if it's good enough for her...

Further down in the Red Sea Region you will be spoilt for choice with Sharm el Sheikh, Taba, Hurghada and Marsa Alam to choose from. There is just as much to discover below the water as above in the Red Sea Region with the odd shipwreck to explore and an abundance of colourful coral with a fascinating marine life. If you don't feel like diving then try the minisubs, snorkelling or glass bottomed boat rides.

Most of the hotels here have their own private beaches with wonderful shallow waters and long wooden jetties stretching out to sea.

Marsa Alam is the perfect choice for a nice quiet holiday. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars along the sea front and a quaint harbour reminiscent of the old days when this town was just a sleepy little fishing village.

Hurghada is slightly livelier and has some superb guest houses and hotels to choose from. Giftin Island just close by offers some of the most superb diving in the whole region and is a firm favourite with all divers here. Just along the coast at El Gouna you can even enjoy a game of golf.

Sharm el Sheikh is definitely the golden child where Egypt holidays are concerned at the moment. Growing in popularity every year, choose to stay near the bustling resort of Naama Bay or some of the quieter resorts stretching out along the coast.

If you travel to Taba or Taba Heights just near the border of Israel, you are perfectly situated to explore Petra City and Jordan.

You'll also get plenty of opportunity to explore the desert with jeep safaris, quad excursions and camel trekking. Many people are put off taking Egypt holidays because they are afraid of going to the markets; haggling can be exciting and fun and as long as you don't insult them with a silly price, you'll find yourself actually enjoying it and bagging yourself some great bargains at the same time. Most hotels also run excursions to Luxor and the Pyramids at Giza, often involving an early start or overnight stay, but well worth the effort.

I could only find one problem with Egypt holidays and that's choosing which resort to go to in the first place.
