Kimberley Walsh is teaming up with Alfie Boe to sing the official anthem for Britain's Olympic hopefuls.

The Girls Aloud star and the tenor have recorded a version of top ten Queen hit One Vision for Team GB and Paralympics GB which will be unveiled at a celebration attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge next week.

The duo will perform their song in public for the first time at the Royal Albert Hall next Friday as the teams are launched at an event called Our Greatest Team Rises.

The song was first released by Queen - led by Freddie Mercury - in 1985 and reached number seven in the singles chart.

Kimberley - who has recently starred as Princess Fiona in Shrek The Musical - follows her erstwhile Girls Aloud bandmates Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts in releasing singles outside the group. She has previously featured as a guest vocalist on Aggro Santos's Like U Like.

The 30-year-old said: "It feels like a real honour to be representing Great Britain with this song and to be part of the whole Olympics madness. It's really special."

"Bring on the gold medals," she added.

The track is also being released by Decca Records on May 11.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be guests of honour at the star-studded launch. The royal couple, along with Prince Harry, are ambassadors for Team GB and ParalympicsGB.

Take That's Gary Barlow, artist Will Young and past Britain's Got Talent winners Spelbound will also perform in honour of the sportsmen and women who are to compete at the Olympics. Hosts for the evening will be presenter Davina McCall and comic John Bishop.
