It’s only South African comedian Trevor Noah!
Trevor was chosen a little more than a month after Stewart unexpectedly announced he was leaving The Daily Show following 16 years at the helm.
The New Jersey-born Stewart is being replaced by 31-year-old comedian who has contributed to The Daily Show since December last year.
Jon Stewart, who started hosting The Daily Show in 1999, said in a statement: “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor. He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with.”
The response to the announcement has been largely positive, with many people excited that the South African will host the show.
Still others believe Trevor Noah, who has appeared on BBC Two’s QI in the UK, has some big shoes to fill.
And, unsurprisingly, South Africans are very proud of him.
The Daily Show is a satirical news program that airs on Comedy Central in America.
A date for Jon Stewart’s departure has not been set.
