Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's celebrity friends have been sending congratulations after it emerged that the couple had secretly tied the knot.

Brad's Ocean's Eleven co-star George Clooney and actress Mia Farrow were among those to send love to the newlyweds, who exchanged vows at their home in France, Chateau Miraval, at the weekend.

George told People: "How great is that? I'm really happy for Brad and Angie and their whole family."

The Hollywood star, who is getting ready for his own trip down the aisle with fiancee Amal Alamuddin, didn't reveal whether he had been at the ceremony.

Mia tweeted: "Congratulations Angie & Brad!!! Now let's work for the day when everyone can get married."

Broadcaster Pat O'Brien said: "Congrats to Brad and Angelina. Two of the nicest people in Hollywood."

The couple's nondenominational civil ceremony was attended by some family and friends - apparently just 22 people - and Brangelina's six children all took part.

However, it seems Angelina's dad Jon Voight knew nothing about the nuptials. The actor was being interviewed when news came that they had got hitched, and according to reports he revealed that he hadn't known.

Asked whether he had a comment, he apparently said: "That's nice."

The Ray Donovan actor has now told Good Morning Britain he is thrilled that Brad and Angelina are husband and wife.

He said: "I'm very happy about it, I'm very happy that I can now legitimately call him my son-in-law, this wonderful fellow who I love and that they're very happy and the kids must have had a wonderful time at the wedding because they all had their things to do. It must have been very beautiful, I'm very happy for them."

More details of the ceremony have emerged and a source told E! News that Angelina wore a white dress as she walked down the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox and Pax.

The insider said it was "very traditional, but very Angie, it was comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk".

She also wore a locket that once belonged to her late mother Marcheline Bertrand.
