High Bentham WI: Twelve members enjoyed dinner at the Maypole Inn, Long Preston, on Thursday. The next meeting will be next Thursday, April 4, when the speaker will be David Smail on The Building of Devils Bridge. The competition is paint a stone.

New co-ordinator: After 19 years as Bentham News co-ordinator, Bill Kennedy will retire at the end of March. On Sunday a farewell lunch was held for him at Bentham Golf Club. The new co-ordinator, Alice Ellwood, will start in April.

Age Concern: The Age Concern gathering on Friday was cancelled due to bad weather. The centre will reopen next Friday, April 5.

Monday Madness Goodenber Play Area will stage some Monday Madness next week. It starts with egg games at 2pm and will include an Easter egg hunt (50p entry), egg rolling, egg and spoon races, egg decorating and egg throwing. There will be a prizegiving at 3pm and refreshments will be available. The play area will hold its annual general meeting at the Coach House on Thursday, April 18, at 8pm.

Looking Well: On Tuesday mornings during April, the creative writing group will meet and a community lunch is available between 12.45pm and 1.45pm. The Monday and Tuesday walks continue. Kitchen volunteers are needed on Tuesday once or twice a month to help make lunch. Helpers are also required for the Art Shed CARnival workshops on Thursday afternoons in May.

Palm Sunday: On Palm Sunday, the Blessing the Palms took place at School Hill.

Low Bentham WI: Members met at the Victoria Institute on Thursday. The business meeting was led by the president, Christine Jennings. The speaker was Di Rees whose talk was about the London Olympics and Paralympics, where she was a volunteer.
