Five put their own spin on country and rock covers

By Hannah Marsh »

COUNTRY and West Coast rock covers come to Riga this weekend as Five and Dime take to the stage.

Formed earlier this year, vocalist Claire Furley, guitarist and singer Phil Ball, bassist Mark Cunningham and drummer Odgie Aldridge, set out to put their own spin on their favourite selection of West Coast and country rock tunes while showing off their trademark rich vocal harmonies.

They will be supported on the night by Southend singer Dee Hunter and her band. She’ll be showcasing some numbers from her forthcoming album, From the Shadow of the Devil Tree, She describes her style as a cross between lyrical folk, soft rock and light funk.

Five and Dime, supported by Dee Hunter, play at Riga, London Road, Westcliff, Friday, at 8pm. Tickets are £7 in advance and £10 on the door. Call 08444 771 000.
