Riding a bike is a tricky business – they are definitely a couple of wheels short of the complete package.
But they do have a certain appeal, and that lack of rotaries is part of it. It takes a real and genuine skill to stay on board.
I know the tyres these days are nothing short of round tubes of leaky superglue, but that only means you can go faster, not safer.
And so it is with SBK 2011 for the Playstation 3 and of course other formats. These are the superbikes. They are bikes and yet super.
They go stupidly fast and now you can slide them a little easier. Anyone who would want to slide a bike like this is most certainly a nut short of, erm, a collection of nuts.
But that’s what on the start grid. A whole series of nuts keen to defy gravity and ignore the eventual inevitable road rash on their fragile bodies.
These riders are among the finest on the planet. I am no real fan of the sport, but I can appreciate what they do to keep audiences happy. With this amazing game, that audience can get some of their own appreciation of what these lads are doing. And if they fail, they won’t break bones.
Lots of bikes, tracks, racing formats make this a fine game, and worth getting if you are in to two wheels.
Even the simulation levels are variable, so as you improve, you can ramp up the difficulty by another significant notch.
Just make sure you don’t suffer from motion sickness – the graphics are exhilarating.
