Battlefield: Bad Company2 - PC

Age rating 16

Battlefield has been at war with Call of Duty since year dot, and even Medal of Honour was in the mix for a while.

So now we have the new version out, and it’s really good. Battlefield: Bad Company2 is compelling.

I finished the single player game after a single all night session of just about six hours, and I was spending some time admiring the scenery, and there is plenty of it.

The bag guys are not too bright and there could have been a few more. The times they got me, it was often the case the reload played slightly differently as the enemy will move around, but not all of them.

You get to play with some vehicles but not fly anything which is a shame.

The stories in these games are usually pretty irrelevant and that’s the same with this one. Russian baddies, some twists, a mystery World War II weapon, save the day, blah blah.

Point is, you and your small band of unkillable buddies have to shoot and blow up lots of stuff.

Call in air strikes, drive a tank, use lots of equipment. There are way too many cut scenes which slow the action, but in truth this is a multiplayer game through and though. Getting online is a little too painful for these days which is a shame, but will be worked out – hopefully. Have to wonder at the previous ones worked so well.

You get to romp through jungle, snow, a desert full of ships (Close Encounters anyone?) towns and countryside. All very pretty and you can blow lots of it up.

I downloaded it painlessly from Steam – a truly great delivery service which I would recommend heartily what with its auto updates.
