Family Trainer for the Wii

2:09pm Friday 25th September 2009

Dance mats are all well and good, but some people just don't want to bop to endless dance tracks.

They want to know they are getting fit by doing it. So just for the Wii, here is the Family Trainer Extreme Challenge.

It may say extreme in the title, but you can still keep it tame and go as fast as you want to.

Once those feet and arms are finding their own rhythm you will be pounding away shifting those pounds. Hate to say it but with the annual Christmas gorging competition arriving sooner than we expect, this could be a good time to take this sort of thing up.

This is a fitness game so there are a million stats to keep up with, as anyone with a Wii Fit will know all about.

There is a series of 15 challenges based on the real world that can be done in safety – just don't overdo it at first of course. Take it easy and build up.

There are several sports and of course the whole point of the Wii, it involves many people, family and friends all competing together using arms, legs and even the head.

Product manager Lauren Bradley said: “Players have to use their whole body to rack up scores on mini-games such as wakeboarding, street luge and base jumping.

“It's an active game but the focus is on fun. Parents can be confident that it's an energetic experience but ultimately very amusing and a game that the family won't grow bored of.”

Sounds terrifying, but at least you don't have to jump off high stuff for real, which is dangerous.

It should cost under the £50 mark.
