Wolfenstein

Wolfenstein has been around for decades. It lead the way for the first person shooter right from way back when PCs came with two meg of RAM.

Now with bonkers graphics cards and near unlimited processor power and plenty of RAM, these games have literally come alive.

We have become used to demanding the scenery ‘painters’ in these games to make them so lifelike it feels like we really are there.

And so to this game. More of the same really, but done really really well. The PC version shows a lot of console in it, and that will annoy the purists, but at least it has mouse control over the menus.

So, special hunky hard-man agent with unpronounceable name takes on spooky Nazis and their paranormal weapons.

There done the whole story in a single sentence.

But you really do take away more than that when you sit down to play. Upgrades for weapons, and some mental ray guns that literally defragment the opposition are on hand. Use the black market to get these, unless you are lucky enough to pick them up.

Plenty of multiplayer too – and bad German accents.

I thoroughly enjoyed it even if it is way too far-fetched for some to stomach. To them, I would say, relax – it’s just a bit of fun.

This is 18 rated thanks to the clearly visible bullet damage that can be done. Think back to Soldier of Fortune, only not quite so explicit.
