Pimp My Ride – Street Racing

11:25am Wednesday 20th May 2009

You should know the MTV show Pimp My Ride – take rubbish car, strip it back to the bare essentials and then super-trick it for the street.

Sounds easy. But believe me, this stuff is amazingly expensive, and can drain bank accounts faster than a broken damn can redistribute a lake.

So, next best thing? How about trying Pimp my Ride Street Racing for the Nintendo DS.

This is essentially a fun way to hop up a motor, and then see how it goes on the multitude of tracks.

It’s pretty good fun too – no real open field of play here, you need to use the set tracks, but you do get to unlock an avalanche of extra goodies to continue tricking out your motor. Lots of extra cars to choose from too.

It has a Need for Speed feel to it, so don’t think you are getting a Grand Theft Auto type game here. As the name says, this is street racing.

There is a championship mode which allows plenty of that unlocking of posh stuff.

Items can help with your speed, handling, as well as looks – all the usual things in fact.

You can tinker to your hearts content and create something completely unique – and then race it against the opposition.
