FEAR2 - PC
This is a game well named. FEAR may stand for something military ion the near future, but you will be scared playing this game. If you played through the first one, you will be used to Alma – the little girl who looks like the one in The Ring. And I don't mean Naomi Watts. The story is almost secondary to the special effects here. You really are going to need a monster PC to play it properly or grab it on a console.
I downloaded it on Steam – a brilliant online system where you can get so many excellent titles, and they are adding new ones all the time. And no bother keeping discs in the drive either.
Anyway, FEAR2 is more running, hiding, shooting bad guys and later bad monster things. You get some Max Payne style slo-mo bullet time stuff, and lots of doors to open. The baddies are pretty smart, and will try to outflank you, but on normal setting, and if you are skilled at games like Call of Duty, you will do just fine.
Just about everything can be shot or knocked over, and you can use things like tables and benches as barricades – after shoving them on their sides. Just like those old Western saloon gun fights. Back to those effects – stunning is all I can say. OK, we may have seen games like this before, but they really are trying to narrow the gap between reality and game.
Except for most of us in the real world won't have to put up with Alma scaring the bejesus out of us all the time.
