Nearly 2,000 players and spectators descended on Maldon Prom to enjoy Maldon Saints’ annual football tournament. The seven-a-side competition attracted teams from all over the county, including representatives from the Colchester and District Youth League. A total of 65 teams entered, with a group stage followed by semi-finals and a final in the three age groups from under-eight to under-ten. Upminster Raiders were winners in the under-eight category, while Writtle Minors were under-nine champions and hosts Maldon Saints took the under-ten honours.
